Three services, done deliberately.

We keep our practice narrow on purpose. Every project gets the same disciplined sequence, the same accountable point of contact, and the same standard of finish.

Pre-construction & owner representation

The most expensive mistakes on a build happen before ground is broken. We work alongside your architect and designers to test the plans for feasibility and fit, evaluate the site itself for access, grade, soils, and utilities, and manage permitting and documentation with the local authorities.

For owners who want an advocate rather than just a builder, we act as your representative: coordinating design decisions, testing the budget against reality, and making sure the project you approve on paper is the project that gets built.

Residential new construction

Full-service general contracting for custom homes, from ground-breaking to final completion. Our portfolio ranges from modest mountain residences to large custom builds. These are homes built for the people who will live in them, not for a spec sheet.

You hold one accountable point of contact for the entire build. We run the schedule, supervise the site, manage every subcontractor, and keep the budget where we agreed it would be, with clear communication at every stage.

Light commercial construction

Practical, well-built commercial space that supports how you operate: interior fit-ups for offices, restaurants, and medical practices; shell structures and outparcel developments; and agricultural buildings built for working land.

We bring the same discipline to a fit-up that we bring to a custom home: a firm schedule, a controlled budget, and a finished space that's ready to earn its keep.

Building in the High Country, answered

What does it cost to build a custom home in the High Country?

It depends on the site, the design, and the level of finish. Mountain lots add real costs that flat-land estimates miss: steeper grades mean more excavation and foundation work, and wells, septic systems, and long driveways all add up. That is why we start with pre-construction: we test your plans against a real budget before you commit. Our custom home portfolio ranges from modest mountain residences to large custom builds.

How long does a custom home take to build?

Timelines vary with the site, the design, and the level of finish, and complex lots or custom details extend them. Winter weather at elevation is a real factor, so we build the schedule around it rather than pretending it away. You get a realistic schedule up front and clear communication when anything moves.

Do you build on steep or sloped lots?

Yes. Most buildable land in Ashe, Watauga, and Alleghany counties has grade, and we evaluate access, soils, drainage, and foundation options as part of pre-construction. A sloped lot is not a problem, it is a design input. The homes we build are engineered for the site they sit on.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Elevate Building Company is a licensed North Carolina general contractor, NC GC #79694, and fully insured. The company is veteran and woman-owned and has been building across North Carolina since 2017.

Do I need my own architect before I contact you?

No. You can come to us with finished plans, a sketch, or just a piece of land. If you already have an architect, we work alongside them during pre-construction. If you do not, we can help you find the right designer for the project and coordinate the design process as your owner's representative.
